Jakarta, February 25, 2025 — The Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Jakarta State University (UNJ), welcomed the visit of the Beta College Representative Committee from Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM). This activity is part of the UNJ-UiTM Cultural Touch Program which aims to strengthen academic and cultural relations between the two institutions. The event took place on the 9th Floor of the Ki Hajar Dewantara Building, Jakarta State University.
The visit was attended by Mrs. Adzura Elier Ahmad, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Dr. Ahmad Zulfadhli Khairuddin, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Educational Studies, and 13 student representatives from UiTM. The arrival of the delegation was warmly welcomed by the ranks of academics and students of UNJ.
The event began at 08.00 WIB, opened by the UNJ FISH Ambassador. After that, all participants sang the Indonesian national anthem, "Indonesia Raya," followed by the Malaysian national anthem, "Negaraku," and the Jakarta State University March. After the opening session, the UiTM representative delivered a speech followed by a speech from Dr. Aris Munandar, Vice Dean 2, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Jakarta State University.
As part of the visit, the Office of International Affairs (KUI) UNJ provided an introductory session on Universitas Negeri Jakarta which aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the Universitas Negeri Jakarta campus and the facilities available. Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM) also had the opportunity to introduce Malaysian culture through an interactive presentation that showcased the uniqueness and richness of their country's culture
This session was then continued with a campus tour, where guests from UiTM were invited to see various UNJ facilities, such as the library, theater room, UNJ primary clinic, and Plaza UNJ which is the campus icon. This tour aims to provide a first-hand overview of the academic environment at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.
UiTM students also had the opportunity to discuss the material "Ideology and Agreement 1 Nusantara" hosted by Dr. Yuyus Kardiman and Mohammad Maiwan, M.Sc., Ph.D. By utilizing UNJ facilities, a joint podcast session was also held.
On this occasion, UNJ introduced traditional Indonesian games, such as Rangku Alu from Manggarai, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, and Dampu Bulan from DKI Jakarta. UiTM students enthusiastically tried these games and learned how to play them. As a complement, UNJ also served traditional Indonesian dishes, namely onde-onde and Betawi special drinks, es selendang mayang.
On the other hand, the UiTM delegation introduced Malaysian culture through traditional games such as Sepak Raga and Wau (a typical Malaysian kite). They also introduced typical Malaysian foods such as Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kerabu, which attracted the attention of UNJ participants.
Towards the end of the event, the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program presented a typical Indonesian cultural performance featuring the dances "Wonderful Indonesia" and "Ronggeng Sweet." This performance closed a very stunning event.
This event ended with closing remarks by UiTM student representative, Nor Adina. Then a group photo session was held and souvenirs were handed over as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between UNJ and UiTM. This event not only strengthens academic relations between the two universities but also opens up opportunities for further collaboration in the fields of research and student exchange.
