Along with the expansion of the mandate given to Jakarta Institute of Education and Teaching (IKIP Jakarta) to develop educational and non-educational programs, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Jakarta State University (formerly known as the Faculty of Social Sciences Education at IKIP Jakarta) was granted the authority based on Presidential Decree No. 093 of 1999, dated August 4, 1999, to study, develop, and implement scientific knowledge in the fields of education and non-education, teaching, research, and community service, particularly in the areas of Pancasila and Civic Education, History Education, Geography Education, Sociology Education, Sociology, Islamic Religious Studies, Public Relations, Tourism and Hospitality Services, and Social Sciences Education. Currently, there is an additional non-educational field in the Faculty of Social Sciences, namely Communication Studies and Geography.
