Solikar 2024: Sociology Study Program Making an Impact and Empowering Kampung Reformasi

Jakarta, Indonesia – July 20, 2024

Solikar (Sosiologi Peduli Sekitar) is an annual program organized by the Student Executive Board of the Sociology Department at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. In line with the field of Sociology’s strong focus on societal issues, this program aims to make a positive contribution to the surrounding community.

This year, Solikar is themed IMPACT: Inspiring Meaningful Participation and Community Transformation, concentrating on education and social issues. The event took place on July 20, 2024, in Kampung Reformasi, Cilincing, North Jakarta. The program involved students from the class of 2022 and 2023, as well as Sociology lecturers from Universitas Negeri Jakarta, who actively participated in its execution.

The implementation of Solikar involved collaboration between students and lecturers from the UNJ Sociology Department. Activities included teaching sessions for both children and their parents. Children received lessons on recognizing different animals, fruits, and basic English skills, while parents were provided with information on parenting and social issues. The aim is for the residents of Kampung Reformasi to benefit positively from this initiative, increase their awareness of the importance of education, and gain a better understanding of social issues from a sociological perspective.

As part of the program, students and lecturers also provided several resources for future use. These included school supplies, stationery, educational modules, and a play area for children. This support is intended to enhance the teaching and learning process in Kampung Reformasi and create a more supportive environment for the children.

The event aims to bring about positive changes and improvements in the quality of life in Kampung Reformasi through education and a better understanding of social issues. It also provides an opportunity for students to apply their sociological knowledge in real-world settings, helping them develop empathy, communication skills, and social analysis abilities.
