Qualitative Research Training 2024: Sociology goes to Wonosobo

Wonosobo, Indonesia – July 9, 2024

As an effort to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University and Academic Community have created a program for students to increase the institution’s contribution at the village level. One way to achieve this is by providing opportunities for students to carry out research.

To improve students’ social research skills, especially in Qualitative Research Training, the Sociology Study Program of Universitas Negeri Jakarta held a Field Work Lecture with the theme “How SDGs Impacted To Indonesia’s Villages: The Case of SDGs Village To 2024.”

The Field Work Lecture was held for six days from Tuesday, July 9, 2024 to Sunday, July 14, 2024 in Wonosobo, Central Java. This activity was carried out by Sociology students from the class of 2021.

Students are divided into several groups with sub-themes according to the SDGs points, namely Villages Without Poverty, Quality Village Education, Gender Equality, Village Economic Growth & Equity, Clean Water Feasible Villages & Climate Change Response, Village Infrastructure & Innovation as Needed, Villages Without Gaps, and Partnerships for Village Development.

In conducting research, students are required to collect and process data in qualitative research to hone their skills in editing, memo-making, and organizing research findings as the initial stage of report writing. The results of the research findings were presented to the village officials at the end of the activity.

The Sociology Study Program hopes that this Field Work Lecture can be useful for students in improving their social research skills, especially in Qualitative Research Training. This program is also expected to be useful in providing solutions and suggestions to improve the quality of the village so that the SDGs can be achieved.
