JAKARTA— The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Expo Stand at the 9th Abu Dhabi Forum For Peace received appreciation from visitors.
The event, which will take place from 8 to 10 November 2022, focuses on mechanisms for facing global economic, health and security challenges, with the theme “Globalized Conflict and Universal Peace: Urgent Needs for Partnership”.
Secretary of the MUI Foreign Affairs and International Relations Commission (HLNKI), Andy Hadiyanto, said that visitors were enthusiastic about the books published by MUI. Before participating in this activity, MUI translated its products such as fatwas into Arabic and English.
“One of the participants who visited the MUI stand was Sheikh Hamzah Yusuf from the United States. “Apart from visiting, he expressed his appreciation for Indonesia and the MUI, because they continue to be committed to developing an Islam that embraces all parties,” explained Andy in a press release received by MUIDigital, Wednesday (09/10/2022).
In the Expo entitled “معرض صناع السلام”, according to Andy, other guests who visited the MUI stand came from various countries such as Sudan, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Lebanon, Ireland, France, Iraq, Egypt, Russia and Uzbekistan .
According to him, the visitors expressed their desire to collaborate with MUI to organize similar activities in Indonesia.
“One thing that is unique, a Jewish leader from Israel, namely Avner Haramati, expressed his surprise at how Indonesia became a large Muslim country, but was able to display tolerance and harmony,” he said.
This Jakarta State University (UNJ) academic said that the Expo activities were attended by 20 institutions from various countries with experience in initiating peace and tolerance, including Indonesia.
Not only the MUI, Indonesia was also represented by the Vice President’s office which opened a stand displaying photos of relations between Indonesia and the UAE, as well as various activities that had been initiated by the Indonesian Government related to the development of religious moderation and tolerance.
