Jakarta, May 8, 2024, the Communication Science Program of UNJ batch 2023 held a cultural event entitled Abirama Budaya with the theme “Merayakan Keragaman, Merajut Persatuan”
This event was organized as part of the final exam for the Komunikasi Lintas Budaya course. The event was opened by the Dean of FIS, Mr. Firdaus Wajdi, M.A., Ph.D., and attended by several lecturers from the Communication Science program as well as students from the Communication Science program of batch 2021, 2022, and 2023. Abirama Budaya is a cultural festival held as the end-of-semester project for students of the 2023 Communication Science program at UNJ. Abirama itself means rhythm that is conserved as harmony. This festival is expected to harmonize the various cultures in Indonesia into one.
At the Abirama Budaya Festival, students performed dances, songs, dramas, regional fashion shows, poetry readings, and the Betawi traditional art of palang pintu. The Coordinator of the S1 Communication Science Program, Dr. Dini Safitri S.Sos, M.Si, CPR, has made the Abirama Cultural Festival a part of the series of events for UNJ’s 60th anniversary celebration. “This event has entered its second year, and it is hoped that it can become a meaningful learning experience for communication science students, fostering greater pride in Indonesia’s diverse culture and local wisdom, which deserves to be implemented in daily life,” said Dini.
Maulina Larasati Putri, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., the lecturer for the Komunikasi Lintas Budaya course, commented, “This Cultural Festival activity is the final project for the Komunikasi Lintas Budaya course. This event will be held annually from now on. It is hoped that through this Cultural Festival, knowledge and love for culture, especially Indonesian culture, will be enhanced.”
