Jakarta, 18 September 2026 — Undergraduate of Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), participated in the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Central Board of the Indonesian Association of Scholars of Social Science Education (PP HISPISI) and The 6th International Conference on Humanities, Education, Law, and Social Science (ICHELSS) 2026. The event was attended by lecturers from the Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., Dr. Marisa Puspita Sari, M.Si., and Dr. Elisabeth Nugrahaeni P.S., M.Si. The series of events was held on September 18–20, 2026, at Hotel Niagara, Parapat, Lake Toba, North Sumatra.
The participation of the Communication Science Study Program was part of FISH UNJ’s involvement in a forum that brought together faculty leaders, heads of study programs, academics, organizational representatives, and representatives from HISPISI member universities across Indonesia. The event served as a platform to strengthen communication, expand academic networks, and foster opportunities for collaboration in the field of social sciences.
This year, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Universitas Negeri Medan (FIS UNIMED) served as the host of the event based on the Decree of the Central Board of HISPISI Number 012/Kep.PP.HISPISI/X/2025. The HISPISI Annual Meeting served as an organizational forum to evaluate the association’s activities and programs while discussing its future development.
For Undergraduate of Communication Science Study Program, participating in the event also provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with HISPISI member universities, particularly in the development of education, research, community service, and other academic activities related to communication and social sciences.The Coordinator of the Undergraduate of Communication Science, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., highlighted the importance of academic forums in strengthening collaboration and broadening the study program’s academic network. “As a member of HISPISI, Undergraduate of Communication Science has actively participated in various HISPISI activities and initiatives. These include an international conference featuring research collaborations between faculty members and students, as well as student participation in a poster competition, where the program’s representative successfully received an Honorable Mention award. The program has also established a student exchange collaboration with Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), along with joint research, collaborative publications, and other forms of academic and institutional collaboration.”
In addition to the HISPISI Annual Meeting, the event series featured the 6th ICHELSS 2026, themed Humanizing Development: The Role of Social Sciences and Humanities in Achieving the SDGs. The international conference brought together academics and participants to exchange perspectives on contemporary issues in the social sciences and humanities, including education, law, and sustainable development. The forum provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with academics from HISPISI member universities for the Undergraduate of Communication Science students, while gaining perspectives from different academic and institutional contexts.
The discussions also touched on challenges emerging alongside changes in society, from digital transformation and artificial intelligence to shifts in the workforce and social life. These developments highlight the relevance of the social sciences in understanding how technological and societal changes affect communities, including the role of Communication Science in responding to such developments. Through the exchange of ideas at the forum, students and academics from UNJ were able to connect perspectives from their own academic environment with broader discussions taking place among HISPISI member universities.
