Jakarta, 13 October, 2026 — The Undergraduate Communication Science Program of Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) hosted an international guest lecture featuring Steven Yang, a business practitioner from China who is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at UNJ. Held as part of the Business Communication course taught by Dr. M. Fikri Akbar, S.I.Kom., M.Si., M.M., the session took place at the Multipurpose Room, Building K, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH), UNJ, on Tuesday (13 October 2026). Carrying the theme Building Business Relationships Through Effective Communication, the session provided students with the opportunity to learn from a business practitioner and explore how communication principles are applied in professional settings.

The event opened with remarks from Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, Coordinator of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at UNJ. “alhamdulillah, we are grateful for this valuable opportunity to collaborate with Mr. Steven Yang, who has generously shared new insights with our students. We hope this guest lecture will benefit them and inspire them to deepen their understanding of business communication,” she stated.

During the session, Mr. Steven Yang discussed the importance of building trust with clients and business partners, maintaining long-term stakeholder relationships, and adapting communication strategies to different business environments. He also encouraged students to start building professional networks early in their academic journey and stressed the importance of teamwork, stating, “Once you continue your business, you already build your team. Responsibility from the company is important. Inside the team is a family.” His insights underscored the role of trust, adaptability, and shared responsibility in establishing sustainable business relationships.

Mr. Steven Yang encouraged students to share business opportunities with their partners and maintain relationships beyond individual transactions. He connected these values to remain adaptable and persistent when facing business challenges. He also reminded students that achieving business goals requires discipline and a willingness to keep learning, even through small habits such as practicing English during daily commutes. Referring to older individuals in China who continue to travel abroad to pursue business opportunities, he emphasized that age should not limit ambition and that students should make the most of their time to prepare for future opportunities.

Undergraduate of Communication Science Program continues to connect academic learning with insights from professional practice through this international guest lecture. The session encouraged students to develop greater self-awareness, adapt their communication to different business environments, and build trust-based relationships with stakeholders. These insights are expected to support students in strengthening their business communication competencies and preparing for future professional opportunities.
