Jakarta, July 15, 2025 — Undergraduate students from the Communication Science Study Program participated in the event “Tulis Cinta Menyongsong Indonesia Emas: Love Strokes to Strengthen National Resilience in Preventing Radicalism and Terrorism”, organized by the Forum for Coordination of Terrorism Prevention (FKPT) North Maluku, in collaboration with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and IAIN Ternate.
This hybrid-format event, held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, brought together academics, peace activists, and students from various backgrounds. The Communication Science students took part as participants in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) session that focused on developing peace-oriented narratives as part of the Peace Da’wah Festival scriptwriting workshop.
The event began with opening remarks from the Head of FKPT North Maluku, Dr. H. Hidayatussalam, S.H., M.H., followed by a speech from BNPT representative Colonel (Sus) Dr. Harianto, M.Pd., Head of the Community Empowerment Sub-directorate. The Rector of IAIN Ternate, Prof. Dr. Radjiman Ismail, M.Pd., officially opened the event.
A keynote session on the current state of radicalism and terrorism in North Maluku was delivered by Anshar Tohe. This was followed by an interactive national-level session led by Swastika Nohara, S.Psi., M.A., who guided participants in crafting impactful narratives using strategic and creative communication approaches. The scriptwriting activity also served as a competition, where students were challenged to present narratives that promote peace, unity, and resilience. Winning entries were announced at the end of the event.
“Thank you to the organizers for collaborating with our undergraduate Communication Science students from UNJ as FGD participants. The students gained valuable insights that can be further disseminated to the wider community,” said Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., Coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science Study Program.
The participation of undergraduate Communication Science students in this forum reflects their real contribution to countering radical ideologies through constructive communication. Their involvement is expected to generate fresh perspectives and innovative strategies in fostering positive discourse and strengthening national resilience.
