
Jakarta, August 14, 2025 – The Communication Science Department (IKOM) at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held the Pre-Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (Pra-PKKMB) at the SFD Tower A Building, UNJ. The event was attended by 103 new students and served as their first step in getting to know the campus environment, academic community, and student organizations within IKOM UNJ.
The event carried the theme “Mesin Waktu” (Time Machine) with the tagline “Compiling Time Traces, Making New Changes”, symbolizing the journey of new students as they adapt, gain experiences, and create positive changes during their university years.
The event began with an official opening and remarks from the Head of the Communication Science Department, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR. She emphasized that all students, regardless of their admission pathway are regarded equally on campus. She also encouraged students to maintain good communication, show mutual respect, and avoid any form of bullying.

The main session, “University Life vs. High School”, was delivered by Muhammad Teuku Luthfi Fazli, a 2021 Communication Science student, highlighting the key differences between high school and university life.
In addition, the new students were introduced to the Communication Science Student Executive Board (BEMP IKOM), the Communication Science Student Legislative Body (BLMP IKOM), the cohort leader, and the planned student orientation and training activities.

The agenda also included mentoring sessions, ice-breaking activities, and interactive Q&A segments, before concluding with a group photo session.
With the completion of Pra-PKKMB, the 2025 cohort of Communication Science students is expected to develop a clear understanding of the academic and organizational culture at UNJ, equipping them to begin their university journey with readiness and enthusiasm.
