Jakarta, May 26, 2023 – Two students from the Communication Science undergraduate program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta had the opportunity to participate in the special edition of the KPU (General Election Commission) podcast. The podcast was considered special because it was hosted and featured by students themselves. The content of the podcast revolved around the 2024 election from the perspective of the students.
The first student is Firly Amar Nashwa, a member of the 2021 batch of the Communication Science program. Firly had the opportunity to be a speaker on the podcast (May 9, 2023).
“The KPU intentionally invited students in their middle semester who have never experienced the euphoria of an election. The KPU saw this as something new, to seek the perspective of students who will be experiencing their first election in 2024,” said Firly.
the second student, Amanda Syavira, a member of the 2021 batch of the Communication Science program, had the opportunity to become the host and interviewer of the KPU podcast (May 24, 2023).
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to be the host in the Special Edition of the Young Voters Podcast. After being the host in the podcast, I realized the importance of young voter participation in the democratic process and felt proud to play a role in providing important information to young voters, especially first-time voters,” said Amanda.
Dini Safitri, as the Head of the Communication Science Department at UNJ, also provided her response: “As first-time voters, students are equipped with greater knowledge, especially since the Communication Science students at UNJ have been exposed to critical theory courses. This enables them to become informed voters in the upcoming 2024 election.”
