Jakarta, 30/11/2022. In order to prepare for internationalization accreditation, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University invited Visiting Scholar, Dr. Jan A. Ali from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. One of Ali’s agendas is to become a resource person in focus group discussions on publications for researchers and postgraduate students in the early stages of their careers.
The FGD activity was opened by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Firdaus Wajdi, PhD and was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Social Sciences, including the Coordinator of the Communication Studies Program at Jakarta State University, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos, M.Si, CPR. The outputs from the FGDs can become an arena for collaboration between academics from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University and Western Sydney University.
Dr Jan A Ali, emphasized the importance of doing publications in English and the importance of applying critical thinking in preparing a draft of a publication.
UNJ Communication Studies Program Coordinator, Ms. Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos, M.Si, CPR who participated in the focus group discussion also appreciated the implementation of this activity. “This FGD event is a good activity and if necessary it should be carried out routinely. Thus there will be mutually beneficial collaboration outcomes for related parties, especially the S1 Communication Studies study program, “said Dini.
