Jakarta, 9 September 2026 — The Student Executive Board of the Communication Science Study Program (BEMP Ilmu Komunikasi), Universitas Negeri Jakarta, held COMNECTION 2026 on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Bung Hatta Hall. Carrying the theme Academic Engagement & Connection, the event was attended by new students of the 2026 cohort of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program. The event served as a platform for students to gain insights into idea development, academic experiences, as well as the documentation of student achievements and activities.
The series of activities began with an opening ceremony and welcoming remarks. The opening session introduced the purpose of COMNECTION 2026 and encouraged students to actively engage throughout the program. Following the opening, participants were divided into several groups to take part in a series of interactive activities designed to encourage discussion, idea exchange, and active participation among students.
One of the main agendas was the Lecturer Sharing Session, which provided students with an opportunity to gain firsthand insights into lecturers’ experiences in developing and carrying out the Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa/PKM). The session introduced students to the process of developing ideas and encouraged them to view academic experiences as a source of inspiration for creating innovative and relevant PKM proposals. The program continued with a presentation on PKM, followed by a question-and-answer session that allowed students to further explore the program and clarify aspects of idea development. The discussion provided an interactive space for students to connect the information presented with their own interests and potential ideas. To further reinforce the material, participants then took part in a hands-on practice session, where they worked collaboratively to develop their PKM ideas based on the knowledge gained throughout the previous sessions.
The ideas developed during the practice session were subsequently presented in the Pitch Results session. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to communicate and refine their ideas while presenting them together with their respective groups. The combination of sharing, discussion, and practical activities allowed students to move beyond theoretical understanding and experience the early stages of developing and communicating a PKM idea.
In addition to PKM, COMNECTION 2026 also featured presentations on the Diploma Supplement (SKPI) and the Student Achievement Information System (SIMPRESMAWA). These sessions provided students with information on recording activities and achievements that can support the development of their academic track record throughout their studies.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, stated, “The Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) provides an opportunity for students to develop their ideas, creativity, and academic potential. I encourage our first-year students to actively participate in PKM and take advantage of the opportunities available to gain experience in developing and presenting their ideas. We hope that student participation in PKM will continue to increase, particularly among the current cohort.”
Through the implementation of COMNECTION 2026, students took part in a series of activities that covered both academic and non-academic aspects of student development within the Communication Science Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The program brought together students, lecturers, and other members of the academic community through various sessions and activities throughout the event. COMNECTION 2026 thus concluded as part of the Communication Science Study Program’s student activities in the 2026 academic year.
