S-1 Communication Science UNJ Held an Educational Visit to Radio Mandarin Station 98.3 FM

S-1 Communication Science Batch 2023 students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Jakarta held an educational visit to Radio Mandarin Station 98.3 FM, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. This visit is part of the Radio Journalism course with the lecturer Dr. Wiratri Anindhita, M.Sc., CPR, conducted to educate students about the world of broadcasting, especially in the context of Radio Mandarin which has been operating since March 11, 1971.

During the visit, students received an in-depth explanation of the history of Radio Mandarin as the first radio station in Jakarta to broadcast programs in Mandarin. In addition, students also learned about the training of new broadcasters, the broadcast production process, broadcasting ethnicity, and broadcasting techniques applied at the station.

This visit provides a valuable opportunity for students to understand the technical, cultural and mechanism aspects of broadcasting, as well as adding practical experience that is very useful for developing their competence in the field of communication.

Responding to this visit, the Coordinator of S-1 Communication Science UNJ, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR said, “Although radio is an industry that seems to be sinking, the presence of community radio in Mandarin is one example of a broadcast that still exists among its community. Through this visit, students get interesting experiences that provide new insights into radio broadcasting in Mandarin, so that it can provide inspiration for students who are interested in broadcasting.”
