S-1 Communication Science Study Program Held Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) in MAT PECI Community

Saturday, May 10th, 2025 — The S-1 Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, held PKM at the Mat Peci Community, Cikoko, South Jakarta. This activity took place at Mat Peci Green Camp, Inspeksi Ciliwung Street, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, starting at 08:00 AM WIB until completion.

In this activity, the lecturers from the S-1 Communication Science UNJ presented various educational and inspirational topics for the community, especially children and local communities. Among them is:

  • Digital Media Literacy, presented by Dr. Kinkin Yuliaty Subarsa Putri, M.Si., CICS, as an effort to increase public understanding of healthy and responsible digital media.
  • Preservation of Indonesian Culture through Traditional Children’s Games in Jakarta, presented by Dr. Maulina Larasati Putri, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, as a form of local cultural revitalization
  • Environmental Education through Storytelling to Children in the Ciliwung Area, presented by Dr. Marisa Puspita Sary, S.Sos., M.Si, to encourage environmental awareness from an early age.
  • Public Speaking and Advocacy for the Prevention of Sexual Violence against Children, presented by Dr. Vera Wijayanti Sutjipto, S.Sos., M.Si, which aims to equip children with the courage and knowledge to protect themselves.

In addition to delivering the material, this service also included fun activities for the children, such as playing the traditional snakes and ladders games and creating finger painting on ‘my body, my right’ poster.

This PKM is a form of commitment from the S-1 Communication Science UNJ in implementing the Tri Dharma of higher education, particularly in community empowerment through applicable communication knowledge and practices.

Welcoming the implementation of this community service, the Coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science UNJ, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR stated, “PKM are part of the tri dharma of higher education that must be carried out by lecturers in collaboration with student teams and partners. Hopefully, this activity can have an impact on the performance improvement of lecturers, students, and partners.”
