S-1 Communication Science Student UNJ Ranked in Top 7 Best Proposals and Won “Best Digital Marketing Video” at an International Competition

Jakarta, May 22, 2025 — Salsabila Haura Zhafirah, a 2024 student of the S-1 Communication Science Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), has made the university proud on the international stage. Salsabila participated in the International Business Plan Strategy Competition, held from April 16 to May 17, 2025, and received the “Best Digital Marketing Video” award.

In the competition, Salsabila was part of a team alongside students from Universitas Indonesia (UI), all of whom were Civil Engineering majors. The inter-university team was formed on Salsabila’s initiative, driven by her passion for cross-campus and interdisciplinary collaboration to represent Indonesian students on an international level. The team’s diverse academic backgrounds became their main strength, resulting in a business plan that was not only technically sound but also strong in public communication.

“I initiated this collaboration because I wanted to bring the spirit of cross-campus and interdisciplinary teamwork to represent Indonesian students at the international level,” said Salsabila.

The competition welcomed participants from various countries and academic levels. Throughout the event, participants were required to create strategic business proposals that were creative, innovative, and sustainably applicable. Salsabila and her teammates succeeded in ranking among the Top 7 Best Business Proposals, earning the first place recognition based on judges’ evaluations.

Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, as the Coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science, congratulates Salsabila on her achievement. “We hope that Salsabila will continue to excel both academically and non-academically, and become an inspiration to her peers. We believe that her enthusiasm and dedication will lead to even greater success in the future.”

This achievement proves that interdisciplinary collaboration between communication and engineering can generate high-quality, globally competitive business ideas. As the sole Communication Science student in the team, Salsabila played a key role in developing communication strategies, branding, and marketing for their proposed business concept.

Although the team did not advance to the top three in the final round, they received international recognition by being awarded the “Best Digital Marketing Video”. This award was given to the team with the most outstanding digital marketing content, based on creativity, message delivery strategy, and communication effectiveness with the target audience.

Salsabila was fully responsible for the creation of the video, from conceptualization and scriptwriting to visual execution. Armed with the knowledge gained from her Communication Science program, she successfully produced a business presentation video that was clear, engaging, and visually appealing.

This accomplishment is expected to inspire other UNJ students to actively participate in international competitions and to pursue productive interdisciplinary collaborations.
