S-1 Communication Science Students UNJ Class of 2022 Hold UMKM Socialization Event at RPTRA Shibi South Jakarta

S-1 Communication Science students from the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Class of 2022, successfully organized the 2025 UMKM Socialization with the theme “Tumbuh dan Berkembang, UMKM Naik Level” on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at RPTRA Shibi, Jalan Haji Shibi 13, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta

This event was part of the final semester assignment for the Copywriting course, supervised by Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR. The event served as an implementation of the Copywriting material studied over the course of the semester.

The event was attended by several student UMKM and local UMKM affiliated with the Mat Peci UMKM Community. Some of these UMKM received branding and promotional support through Instagram by S-1 Communication Science students.

The event opened with a speech from the Coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science UNJ and lecturer of the Copywriting course, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, “For four months, students have been assisting UMKM, and today is their final day to present what they have done and accomplished.” Followed by remarks from the judging panel, which also included a lecturer from the Pendidikan Sejarah UNJ, Mrs. Lobelia Asmaul Husna, S.Pd., M.Pd., and remarks from the Coordinator of the Mat Peci Community, Mrs. Syam.

There were 26 student groups presenting their work, comprising 9 groups from Class A, 9 groups from Class B, and 8 groups from Class C. The students not only practiced their promotional writing skills but also learned to develop content ideas and narratives, manage content, and analyze content engagement on the social media platforms of the UMKM they assisted.

In addition to presenting their work, students also had the opportunity to win the best group award from four nominations, namely best content writing, best sales copywriting, best promotional materials, and best marketing writing. The winners of the four nominations were selected by Lobelia Asmaul Husna, S.Pd., M.Pd, as the jury, with the following winners: The UMKM Nasi Uduk Ajag-Ijig group as the winner of best content writing, the UMKM Kuliner Nusantara group as the winner of best sales copywriting, the UMKM Teh Daun Kelor Dzam group as the winner of best promotional materials, and the UMKM Accarana group as the winner of best marketing writing.

Through this event, S-1 Communication Science students demonstrated that promotional and copywriting skills on social media can have a positive impact on local businesses such as UMKM.
