S-1 Communication Science UNJ Students Join Collaborative Activities of FISH UNJ with Edith Cowan University

Bintaro, June 25, 2025 – Four S-1 Communication Science students from Universitas Negeri Jakarta participated in community service collaboration activities between Universitas Negeri Jakarta students and Edith Cowan University (ECU) Australia students held on June 23-24, 2025. This collaborative activity is a forum for exchanging values, culture, and social awareness between students from two countries with direct involvement in educational and cultural activities.

UNJ Communication Science students took an important role in this activity, showing their capacity as young communicators who are active, adaptive, and oriented towards social solutions. Some of the UNJ Communication Science undergraduate students who became representatives in collaborative activities with Edith Cowan University: Farah Aulia – 2022, Muhammad Raflino – 2024, Azzahra Aurelia – 2024, and Nadine Berangere Argubi – 2024.

On the first day, activities focused on Sekolah BISA, a non-formal education center for children from underprivileged families. UNJ and ECU students jointly organized a series of educational activities based on creativity and play, such as drawing, painting on clothes for visual expression and non-verbal communication, assembling toy cars from cardboard, and interactive quizzes to foster curiosity and courage.

The second day took place at Binar School, with the main focus on educating high school students about basic financial literacy, cultural exchange, and life abroad, especially in Perth, Australia. In this session, participants were introduced to the transportation system, cost of living, currency, and popular culture and sports in Perth. In addition, information sharing sessions were also held between Indonesian and Australian students regarding cultural values, study habits, and daily life.

Responding to the participation of S-1 Communication Science UNJ students, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR as Coordinator of S-1 Communication Science UNJ stated, “Through this international community service activity, S-1 Communication Science students are not only directly involved in community service activities at the place of service, but also establish relationships with foreign students from Edith Cowan University.”
