UNJ S-1 Communication Science Lecturers Establish International Collaboration with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)

Jakarta, September 3, 2025 — S-1 Communication Science Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) held an online meeting with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to strengthen international academic collaboration. The meeting, conducted via Zoom from 10:00 to 11:00 WIB, was attended by:

  4. Dr. Azhar Kasim – Manager of International Mobilities, UUMKL
  5. Dr. Wan Fatihah Solihah Wan Abdul Halim – Representative, UUMKL
  6. Dr. M. Fikri Akbar – Lecturer, UNJ
  7. Dr. Wiratri Anindhita – Lecturer, UNJ
  8. Nada Arina Romli, M.I.Kom – Lecturer, UNJ

During the discussion, UUM expressed its agreement with various collaborative initiatives proposed by UNJ. The initial stage of the partnership will begin with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the university level, which will then be followed by a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the faculty level.

One of the concrete collaborations to be implemented soon is the dual degree and student exchange program. UUM has committed to covering visa and tuition fees for six UNJ students each year, while students are only required to cover airfare and living expenses. Through this program, UNJ students can take up to six courses in one semester at UUM.

In addition, UUM invited UNJ to serve as a co-host in the upcoming ICMSUUM International Conference, which will be held in October in a hybrid format. This conference will result in academic outputs, including Scopus-indexed journals and scholarly books.

Another upcoming agenda is the planned visit of Prof. Nik Adzrieman Bin Abdul Rahman to Jakarta in late September or early October 2025. The visit will include the signing of the MoA draft, a visiting lecturer session for UNJ students, and discussions regarding the 2027 UUM International Conference to be held in Jakarta. Furthermore, Prof. Nik has also been appointed as part of the editorial board of Communications journal, marking another milestone in strengthening academic cooperation.The Coordinator of the UNJ S-1 Communication Science, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., expressed her hope:
“Alhamdulillah, the meeting with UUM has been successfully held to discuss collaboration between UNJ and UUM, particularly between the S-1 Communication Science program and the School of Multimedia Technology and Communication. We hope that all plans can be implemented smoothly and bring mutual benefits for both parties.”
