S-1 Communication Science UNJ Welcomes New Students Through COMNECTION 2025

Jakarta, September 13, 2025 The new students of S-1 Communication Science at Universitas Negeri Jakarta attended COMNECTION 2025 (Communication & Connection), a two-day program combining motivational training with bonding activities. Carrying the theme “Journey Through the Cosmos. Exploring the Infinite Horizons”, the event was designed to help students build connections, strengthen a sense of belonging, and spark enthusiasm as they begin their academic journey. More than just a gathering, COMNECTION 2025 created an engaging and memorable experience that brought together learning, sharing, and celebration within the Communication Science family.

The first day featured two main sessions that set the tone for the program. Fathur Rahmani S. opened with “Skills You Don’t Learn in Class”, encouraging students to look beyond textbooks and lectures while sharing practical insights for personal growth and future careers. The session sparked reflections on how communication students could apply these skills both on campus and in everyday life. The second session, led by Femmy Veybi Palealu, explored “Maintaining Balance Amid Academic Life”. She emphasized strategies to stay productive while maintaining mental well-being, making the session both motivational and highly relatable for the new students.

The program then continued with a discussion forum (SARASEHAN) with S-1 Communication Science lecturers. In this session, lecturers introduced themselves, shared personal experiences, and offered reflections that are not only inspiring but also meaningful for students as they step into university life. The stories and advice went beyond academics, touching on values and lessons that will remain relevant in their journey ahead. The warm and interactive atmosphere made the new students feel more comfortable and welcome, reinforcing the sense of family within Communication Science.

As the evening arrived, the program transitioned into a celebration with the Student Art Performance (Pentas Seni). Each group of new students showcased their creativity through music, dance, and short drama performances. The stage was filled with energy and laughter, while applause and cheers from the audience created a lively atmosphere. Beyond entertainment, the Pensi highlighted the importance of creativity and collaboration, values that stand at the heart of their journey as Communication Science students.

The second day concluded with an outbound program held outdoors. Through a series of games and challenges, students were encouraged to rely on one another, testing not only their physical endurance but also their ability to collaborate under pressure. These activities created moments of fun, laughter, and even shared struggles that turned into stories to remember. By the end of the program, students came away with not only fond memories but also a stronger sense of solidarity that will guide them throughout their university years.

“For future COMNECTION events, we plan to hold them inside the campus, as the main purpose of this program is motivational training. It is designed to help students plan and prepare both their academic and non-academic activities during their time in the Communication Science study program at UNJ,” said Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., the coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science study program.

With its mix of motivational sessions, academic discussions, creative performances, and outdoor activities, COMNECTION 2025 proved to be more than just a student event. It became a valuable experience that fostered connections, built confidence, and marked the beginning of a new chapter for the new students of S-1 Communication Science at UNJ.
