
Jakarta, 8 November 2025 — S-1 Communication Science, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH UNJ) participated in the Annual Meeting and The 5th International Conference on Humanities Education, Law, and Social Science (ICHELSS V) organized by HISPISI from 24–26 October 2025 at Harris Hotel and Convention Ballroom, Surabaya. The forum brought together academics and researchers from higher education institutions across Indonesia to discuss current issues in social sciences.
FISH UNJ was represented by Dr. E. Nugrahaeni Prananingrum, M.Si., CICS., Vice Dean III of FISH UNJ, and Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., Head of the S-1 Communication Science Study Program. Their participation focused on strengthening UNJ’s academic representation in communication studies while expanding research networks and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Carrying a theme on the role of social sciences in navigating societal and technological transformation, ICHELSS V served as a strategic platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening cooperation among universities in building a more inclusive and sustainable social future.
Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., and Dr. Elisabeth Nugrahaeni Prananingrum, M.Si., CICS., contributed by delivering presentations at ICHELSS and participating in the sectoral meetings. They also contributed to thematic discussions highlighting the need for stronger academic collaboration and professional engagement to reinforce national networks of social science scholars.
The event featured notable speakers, including Prof. Ahmad Najib Burhani, Director General of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), and Prof. Warsono, former Rector of UNESA. Discussions centered on the evolving relevance of social sciences in the digital era.
Prof. Komarudin, Rector of UNJ and Chairperson of HISPISI, expressed appreciation for the active participation of FISH UNJ lecturers, noting that such engagement aligns with UNJ’s commitment as a State University with Legal Entity (PTNBH) to strengthen academic reputation and international collaboration.
Dean of FISH UNJ, Dr. Firdaus Wajdi, noted that the involvement of Communication Science lecturers contributes significantly to integrating research, ideas, and interdisciplinary innovation within the faculty.
The Coordinator of S-1 Communication Science UNJ, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., expressed her pride and appreciation “I hope that the presentation delivered at ICHELSS V will bring valuable contributions to the academic community participating in this conference and serve as a reference in the development of social sciences. For the newly appointed HISPISI board, I wish success in carrying out their duties responsibly and in implementing all planned programs smoothly.”
