Jakarta, 9 July 2026 — The Undergraduate of Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) continues to expand its international engagement through a strategic partnership between the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH) UNJ and Universiti Utara Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Campus (UUMKL). As part of the Building Global Academic Partnerships agenda, the Undergraduate Communication Science Program welcomed delegates from UUMKL to explore collaborative initiatives that will strengthen education, research, and community engagement at the international level.
The strategic meeting brought together the Head of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program and its academic staff alongside representatives from UUMKL to discuss concrete opportunities for future collaboration. Rather than serving solely as a ceremonial meeting, the discussion focused on translating institutional partnerships into impactful academic programs that directly benefit lecturers, students, and the continued international development of the program.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of five strategic collaboration initiatives planned for implementation in 2027. These initiatives include joint research, international publications, academic conferences, lecturer and student mobility, as well as community engagement programs. Through these collaborations, the Undergraduate Communication Science Program aims to broaden international learning opportunities while strengthening its academic and research networks with global partners.
The meeting also highlighted the program’s existing contribution to international academic collaboration. Lecturers from the Undergraduate Communication Science Program, Noprita Herari, M.I.Kom. and Mega Ayu Permatasari, M.Si., have successfully collaborated with UUMKL through the publication of the Scopus-indexed book chapter Passion, Platform, and Power: A Strategic Framework for Digital Empowerment. This achievement reflects the program’s growing commitment to producing internationally recognized academic work while establishing sustainable research partnerships.
Beyond strengthening institutional partnerships, the collaboration is expected to create broader opportunities for students to gain international exposure while enabling lecturers to expand research and publication networks with overseas partners. These initiatives will also support the program’s efforts to enhance curriculum development, intercultural learning, and academic innovation in response to the growing demands of global higher education.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in expanding academic opportunities. “Alhamdulillah! Through this strategic partnership, the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta reaffirms its commitment to advancing internationalization by expanding meaningful academic collaborations and creating sustainable opportunities for students and lecturers to engage in global education, research, and professional development. Building upon existing achievements and future collaborative initiatives, the partnership with UUM Kuala Lumpur Campus is expected to further strengthen the program’s global presence while contributing to the advancement of higher education in both institutions.
