Undergraduate of Communication Science UNJ Strengthens International Publication Competencies Through Reputable Journal Writing Workshop

Jakarta, 22 July 2026 — The Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) continues to strengthen its commitment to research excellence and international scholarly publications through the active participation of its lecturers in the 2026 Reputable International Journal Article Writing Workshop, organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH) UNJ on 18–19 July 2026. Designed to enhance academic writing competencies, the workshop provided participants with practical strategies for producing high-quality manuscripts that meet the standards of reputable international journals.

The Undergraduate Communication Science Program contributed to the implementation of the workshop through the involvement of Mega Ayu Permatasari, M.Si., Noprita Herari, M.I.Kom., and Dr. M. Fikri Akbar, S.I.Kom., M.Si., M.M. as part of the organizing committee. Their involvement reflects the active contribution of the Communication Science faculty in supporting academic development and strengthening a research-oriented environment within FISH UNJ.

The workshop was also attended by Dr. Kinkin Yuliaty Subarsa Putri, M.Si., and Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, as participants representing the Undergraduate Communication Science Program. Their participation provided an opportunity to further develop their competencies in preparing and refining scholarly manuscripts for international publication. The event was also attended by Dr. E. Nugrahaeni P., M.Si., Vice Dean III of FISH UNJ, who is also a lecturer in the Undergraduate Communication Science Program, further demonstrating the program’s involvement across both academic and institutional levels.

The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, emphasized the importance of strengthening lecturers’ research capacity and expanding international academic collaboration, stating, Investing in capacity building. “Through this activity, our lecturers are not only gaining knowledge on how to write for reputable international journals, but also learning from the speakers about building a strong research and teaching ecosystem. A big step for research excellence and academic impact.”

Beyond participating as a workshop attendee, Noprita Herari, M.I.Kom. also served as the moderator for the first day’s sessions. She facilitated the workshop from participant registration through the closing reflection, guiding discussions on the characteristics of reputable international journals, strategies for identifying research novelty and positioning, literature mapping, journal selection, academic writing ethics, and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in scholarly publishing. Her role contributed to maintaining an interactive learning environment while ensuring the smooth delivery of each session throughout the day.

The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Ade Gafar Abdullah, M.Si., from the Graduate School of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and Rumah Publikasi Indonesia (RPI Institute), who shared practical approaches to developing manuscripts suitable for publication in reputable international journals. Throughout the two-day program, participants received intensive guidance on refining research methodologies, presenting research findings, writing discussion sections, and strengthening the overall quality of their manuscripts through coaching sessions and publish-ready evaluations. Each participant was also encouraged to bring a draft manuscript to receive direct feedback and recommendations for improvement from the facilitator.

Through the active involvement, Undergraduate of Communication Science Program continues to contribute to the development of a strong research and publication culture within FISH UNJ. The initiative not only provides opportunities for lecturers to strengthen their academic writing competencies but also supports the program’s broader efforts to enhance research quality, encourage international scholarly publication, and expand academic networks that can contribute to the advancement of Communication Science at both national and global levels.
