Undergraduate of Communication Science UNJ Participates in Book Review Event on Public Information Disputes at UNJ

Jakarta, 9 December 2025 – Undergraduate of Communication Science UNJ participated in a book review event titled “Understanding Public Information Disputes: Unpacking the Dynamics and Challenges of Resolving Public Information Disputes in Indonesia.” The event was held at the Maftuchah Yusuf Auditorium, Dewi Sartika Building, alongside Lecturers, University leaders, and students from various study programs.

The session featured Mr. Syawaludin, Commissioner for Information Dispute Resolution at the Central Information Commission (KIP) RI, who elaborated on how public information disputes arise and how they are resolved within Indonesia’s information governance system. He also highlighted the communication aspects behind these disputes, including message clarity, public access to information, and the role of institutional transparency.

For students of the Undergraduate Communication Science Program, the event provided valuable insights into how communication processes intersect with public policy and information management. The discussion reinforced key academic topics such as media transparency, communication ethics, and public information literacy areas that are essential for future communication practitioners.

The event was opened with remarks from UNJ Rector Prof. Komarudin, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of strengthening students’ understanding of public communication issues. The interactive discussion allowed students to explore how communication strategies can support dispute resolution and improve the relationship between public institutions and citizens.

The Coordinator of Communication Science UNJ, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., expressed her feelings, “This book is highly relevant to the Indonesian context, where transparency and public access to information remain critical issues. It explores the dynamics and challenges of resolving public information disputes in Indonesia, while offering valuable insights for practitioners, academics, and civil society. One of the book’s main strengths lies in its in-depth analysis of the roles played by both state and non-state institutions in handling public information disputes. Overall, this book is well suited for communication scholars and practitioners who want a deeper understanding of public information issues in Indonesia.”

Through their participation, Communication Science students gained practical perspectives that complement their classroom learning and deepen their awareness of the challenges in maintaining transparency and accountability in public information systems.
