UNJ Communication Science Students Class of 2021 Learn Radio Broadcast Operations at RRI Semarang

Semarang, October 7, 2024 – The Communication Science Program of Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) visited Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Semarang on Monday, October 7, 2024. The visit, attended by 120 students from the 2021 class, was part of the Field Work Study (KKL) program and aimed to introduce students to the operational and technical processes behind radio broadcasting production.

Dr. Dini Safitri, the accompanying lecturer, explained the reason for choosing RRI Semarang as the KKL destination. “We selected RRI Semarang for the Field Work Study because many of our students have interned at RRI Central. By visiting RRI Semarang, we want to understand how operations are conducted here,” said Dr. Dini Safitri.

Meanwhile, Hertanto, the head of the benchmarking program, added, “Our communication science program is eager to learn about broadcasting and journalism. RRI Semarang is an ideal place to gain more insights into these fields.”

The Head of LPP RRI Semarang, Ngatno S.Sos., MM, warmly welcomed the visit. “RRI Semarang opens its doors for student visits. The more student visits, the better. This can also be used as public communication and provides information that RRI has greatly improved,” said Ngatno.

During the visit, UNJ students had the opportunity to observe the radio broadcast production process firsthand, from program planning to live broadcasting execution. They also received an explanation of the latest technologies used in modern radio broadcasting.

This visit also opened up networking opportunities for UNJ students with professionals at RRI Semarang, which could be beneficial for their future career development.

Dini Safitri added, “We hope this visit will inspire our students to explore the world of radio broadcasting further and possibly consider it as a career path in the future.”

Collaboration between higher education institutions like UNJ and public broadcasting agencies like RRI is expected to continue, benefiting both parties in the development of human resources in the broadcasting and communication fields.
