The S-1 Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) successfully held an international collaborative class with the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Vietnam on June 11, 2025. The class brought together students from diverse backgrounds, including students from UMT Vietnam and students from Universitas Negeri Jakarta represented by S-1 Communication Science students and other study programs.
This collaborative class was designed to broaden global insights and enhance the professional skills of students through two main topics, such as Intercultural Communication taught by Mentari Anugrah Imsa, M.Si., MCE. and Social Media Marketing taught by Dara Puspita. The sessions offered a dynamic and multicultural academic atmosphere, providing students with meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences in the fields of communication and digital marketing.
The Intercultural Communication session focused on developing students’ understanding of intercultural communication as a key global competence. This class helps students to analyze real-world cross-cultural communication challenges with the proposed solutions, learning the 7 Elements of Cultural Communication, covering cultural context, values, beliefs.
While the Social Media Marketing Class helps students to explore trends and strategies in media marketing, particularly on social media platforms. The topic emphasized the importance of creativity, audience understanding, and data usage in developing impactful digital campaigns. Students were tasked with creating a content plan for a social media campaign, which was then presented to the class. The creative ideas and cross-cultural perspectives shared by both Indonesian and Vietnamese students made this session especially engaging and insightful.

This program not only enriched students’ academic knowledge but also fostered stronger institutional and intercultural ties. This program can be a starting point for ongoing collaboration between UNJ and UMT Vietnam in strengthening global education in communication, digital marketing, and tourism.
Regarding the participation of S-1 Communication Science UNJ students in collaboration class with UMT Vietnam students, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR as Coordinator of the S-1 Communication Science UNJ said, “We hope that this international collaboration will continue in the future, with a return program from UNJ to UMT Vietnam, in the form of lecture sessions and student mobility programs.”
