
Jakarta, October 8, 2025 — S-1 Communication Science Program at the Faculty of Social and Law Sciences (FISH), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), witnessed a unique moment during the first wave of the 2024/2025 academic year graduation ceremony held at the UNJ Sports Hall. Among the graduates called to the stage was a student with an extraordinary name “Gunung Mahameru” instantly drawing the attention of fellow graduates and guests in attendance.
Gunung Mahameru, familiarly known as Ero among his peers, is a 2020 cohort student from the S-1 Communication Science program. Beyond his distinctive name, Ero is known for his active involvement in various academic and organizational activities throughout his studies. His peers describe him as a dedicated and passionate individual who consistently upholds the values of creativity and collaboration.
The graduation ceremony was attended by hundreds of students from various faculties at UNJ, marking an important milestone in their academic journey, emphasizing the role of graduates as agents of change in their respective fields.
The Coordinator of S-1 Communication Science UNJ, Dr. Dini Safitri, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., expresses her feelings “Congratulations to Gunung for earning his bachelor’s degree in Communication Science. Gunung was one of my mentees who had lost his way, but he finally found his passion by taking advantage of an internship opportunity at USAID-HEPI and turning it into his thesis project.”
As the S-1 Communication Science program continues to grow, stories like Ero’s highlight the diversity and vibrancy of UNJ’s academic community.
